I thought the looming library due date would be the motivation I needed to finish this book. It wasn't.

I kept waiting for something to hook me, but the slow pace and focus on character development just weren't for me. I wasn't invested in the characters, and eventually, reading it started to feel like something I was trying to get through rather than something I wanted to pick up.

So when a friend told me there was a screen adaptation, I happily let myself off the hook. Maybe I'll have better luck watching it.
